About

The Vineyard is situated 450 meters above sea level giving the climate slightly cooler than the plains so the vines benefit from cooling breezes at night. Fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. Ageing 50% of the blend aged for 90 months in a mix used French and American oak barrels. It has a deep, dark intense red with berry and plum fruit aromas. Rich, flavoursome with a velvety palate which has good depth of ripe fruit. Smooth, soft and well balanced with a long finish. Drinks well now but will improve in the bottle over the next 2-3 years. Matches well with grilled chicken, meats, fish and sauce-based pasta.
Tasting note: Deep, dark intense red. Dark berry and plum fruit aromas. Rich, flavoursome and velvety palate which has good depth of ripe fruit. Smooth, soft and well balanced with a long finish. Drinking well on release but will improve in bottle over the next 2-3 years

Background Information: Herdade Tapada do Falcão is a small estate of 55 Hectares (130 acres) situated within the Portalegre DOC wine region on the slopes of the Serra de São Mamede in the Alto Alentejo. At 450 metres above sea level the climate is slightly cooler than the plains and the vines benefit from cooling breezes at night. The estate comprises woodland and pastureland abounding with cork oaks, holm oaks, eucalyptus, olives and umbrella pines. The vineyard of 6.2 hectares (15 acres) was planted in early 2000 with five different red grape varieties and gained DOC status in 2011.
